BlueWallet is a Bitcoin and Lightning Wallet for iOS and Android.
BlueWallet supports numerous languages (including German) and currencies (e.g. USD and EUR).
It combines the latest Bitcoin technology (SegWit, LN, Replace-by-Fee etc.) with the most important security functions (plausible deniability) and a simple and intuitive user guidance.
Setting up a Bluewallet is done in a few seconds. You can choose between a normal HD (hierarchical deterministic) wallet or SegWit. You can import the seed from an existing wallet, transfer some Bitcoins from another wallet or buy Bitcoins from Changelly.
The BlueWallet app offers the possibility of managing a normal Bitcoin wallet and a lighting wallet.
Once the two wallets have been created, the first step is to send “normal” Bitcoin to the Bitcoin BlueWallet in order to transfer it later from the Bitcoin Wallet to the Lightning Wallet. It is not possible to send Bitcoin directly to the Lightning Wallet.
You send a few Bitcoin units (Satoshi) from another Bitcoin Wallet to the Bitcoin BlueWallet (shown in blue) and then have to wait a while until the equivalent value is credited. This can currently still take up to 30 minutes.
The next step is to transfer the Bitcoin balance on the BlueWallet to the Lightning Wallet.
To do this, go to the Lightning Wallet (shown in orange) and click on “Manage Funds” in the top left corner and then on Refill. You will then be automatically redirected to the blue Bitcoin ATM wallet.
Here you enter the amount you want to transfer from the blue Bitcoin wallet to the orange Lightning wallet. This transfer opens a side channel and is recorded on the Bitcoin block chain. This process can take up to 30 minutes before the Lightning credit can be used without restriction.
If you want to receive a Lightning payment, you must go to Receive in the Lightning Wallet and specify how much Satoshi you want to receive. The invoice, consisting of the amount, purpose and recipient address, is then communicated to the payer. The same applies if you want to pay something. To do this, you must receive an invoice number, which is individually generated for each transaction and displayed on the website. A subsequent change of the amount is not possible, as the exact amount is part of the invoice number.
The BlueWallet is ideal for the non-technical user, but rather for users. If you want to use the Lightning network and pay by Lightning, BlueWallet is the ideal solution.
