BTCdirect

BTCdirect is a Dutch operator and has been offering the purchase and sale of Bitcoin since June 2013.
The services are offered within the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).

BTCdirect offers to buy and sell Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple and Ethereum (ether).

BTCdirect payment methods

Currently the following payment options are offered: Sofortüberweisung, Giropay, bank transfer, credit card (Visa & Mastercard), iDEAL and Bancontact.

A SEPA transfer takes 1-2 bank working days until the money is credited from the buyer’s account to BTCdirect’s account.

Within this period of time there may be price fluctuations. To protect itself against the risks of price fluctuations, BTCdirect guarantees the displayed Bitcoin price for 15 minutes.

Within these 15 minutes the customer can execute the transfer independently via his online bank account and make a screenshot of the successful transfer.

This screenshot then serves BTCdirect as proof that the transfer was executed.
With this certainty, the price is then guaranteed and the Bitcoin is then delivered at the purchase price at the time the account is credited.

BTCdirect Limits

Once the account has been activated, crypto currencies can be bought for €2,500 per day and sold up to €10,000. This requires an identity and residence check after registration. A purchase or sale without this check is not possible.

• Hero status: Buy up to max. €2.500,- / Sell up to €10.000,-
• Satoshi status: buy up to €10,000 / sell up to €10,000
• Trader status: buy up to €50.000,- / sell up to €50.000,-

BTCdirect fees

The fees are a surcharge on the current rate. The displayed bitcoin price already includes the fees and therefore these are the final prices.
BTCdirect ensures transparency and shows the markup as follows:

Bitcoin: 2% on buy orders and 1% on sell orders
Litecoin: 3% on buy orders and 2% on sell orders
Ether: 3% on buy orders and 2% on sell orders

There are also fees for the payment method used. These may vary.

Buy Bitcoin

On the BTCdirect homepage, all important functions were immediately and clearly displayed.
You get the options between buying and selling and can choose the currency you want. You just have to enter the desired amount either in the crypto currency field or in Euro.
The corresponding equivalent value is calculated on the basis of the displayed price.

The minimum amount is €10,-

If you click on Buy Bitcoin you will be asked to register on the next page.

BTCdirect Registration

During the registration process the email address must be confirmed and an SMS is sent to your mobile phone number.

Afterwards the identity check and the identity card including of a selfie with identification must be submitted.

A copy of your identity card is required for the identity check. This meets money laundering requirements and ensures that no payments are made from hacked bank accounts.

Further documents are required to activate the account:

1. a picture of your identity card (front and back)
2. a picture of you holding your identity card in your hand (selfie);
3. if your identity card does not show your current address: an official document with your name and address (bank statement, electricity bill, telephone bill, etc.)

These documents must be high-resolution and in colour. It is recommended that the appropriate pictures are taken with the mobile phone. The pictures are then sent by email.
The documents are checked and a confirmation e-mail is sent to you when you activate your account.

Then you have reached Hero status and may buy crypto currencies up to the equivalent of €2,500.

BTC-direkte Fazit

The Bitcoin exchange office of BTCdirect exists since 2013 and is an established and proven solution.

Somewhat complicated is the transmission of screenshots from your own bank when paying by bank transfer.

Payments via Sofortüberweisung or Giropay seem a bit easier.

The fees are in line with the market average.

The payment methods offered also correspond to the standard method and with Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ether the focus is on the most important crypto currencies.
