HodlHodl is a decentralised peer-to-peer (P2P) cryptographic currency trading platform.
The term Hodl stands for “Hold on for dear life”, which in German means “to cling on” or “hold on tight”. Hodl” is about holding coins instead of selling them.
However, the HodlHodl trading platform is not about holding, but about buying and selling Bitcoin and Litecoin decentrally.
The functionality is comparable to eBay. The market participants meet on the trading platform and agree to buy and sell directly among themselves. Be it the conditions, the payment methods and the transfer of the goods, i.e. the crypto currencies.
HodlHodl is a LocalBitcoins alternative, with the difference that trading is decentralised. This means that HodlHodl is a peer-to-peer trading system for Bitcoin (and Litecoin). The principle of buying and selling crypto currency is the same: you choose a partner with whom you want to carry out the purchase or sale.
The difference to LocalBitcoins, however, is that HodlHodl has no credit – the transferred coins are stored in a newly created Multisig address.
Trading transactions are decentralised between market participants and HodlHodl does not itself provide financial services. Accordingly, HodlHodl does not conduct KYC or AML testing.
The platform offers users and visitors easy access to efficient trading of crypto currencies. The main focus of the exchange is Bitcoin and Litecoin, but other crypto currencies can also be sold. The website allows the exchange of crypto currencies into Fiat currencies and vice versa.
